Managing Director
Jan is an economist, specialized in project preparation, logframe development, M&E and procurement with more than 20 years of experience in development cooperation.

He worked for projects in the following sectors: water and sanitation, health, SRHR, biodiversity, energy, micro-finance, climate change. As a trainer, Jan trained more than 2.000 development cooperation professionals on topics such as project management, financial planning, digitization, theory of change and evidence based logframe development. Jan acts as a tender agent for major consultancy tenders relating to KfW projects.
During his time at KfW Development Bank, he has managed health and education projects in Western Africa in the context of maternal & child health, HIV/AIDS-prevention, Neglected Tropical Deseases (NTD). As part of KfW’s evaluation team he evaluated infrastructure and education projects in Latin America. Later, as the director of KfW's Cameroon office, he was covering all the projects of the German financial cooperation, liaising with the Cameroonian government and our implementing partners.

Her expertise focuses on financial sector development, including MSME finance, inclusive insurance, and financial literacy. Over the past years, she has supported governments and development partners in the development of National Financial Inclusion Strategies, evaluated microfinance programmes in 12 countries, designed financial literacy programmes, and delivered capacity-building workshops and training courses.
Leading international teams, Corinna has designed new cash transfer programmes and prepared analytical and strategic studies on gender equality and policy-based finance. One of her key strengths is the design and facilitation of participatory workshops and collaborative processes in both virtual and in-person settings. She creates an environment for constructive dialogue and helps diverse stakeholder groups develop practical, jointly owned solutions across cultural and institutional contexts. Corinna holds an MA in International Development Studies as well as a BSc in Economics and a BA in Geography and is a Certified Expert in Microfinance.

Throughout her career, she has worked across Europe, Latin America, and Africa, combining strategic advisory services with hands-on project implementation in the public sector. Her expertise covers good governance, with a particular focus on local governance, decentralisation, public finance, and gender equality. She has extensive experience supporting international development partners throughout the entire project cycle — from (pre-)feasibility studies and logframe design to monitoring & evaluation, reporting, and complex evaluations. Her professional experience also includes procurement support for KfW-funded projects.
Lena has a strong track record in business development and delivery of complex, donor-funded projects, including assignments for the European Commission and GIZ. She has led proposal development, coordinated multidisciplinary teams, and managed multi-million-euro project budgets. She works in German, English, French and Spanish and holds a MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an MA in International Affairs (Specialization on Environment and Sustainable Development) from Sciences Po Paris.
Outside of work, Lena is deeply committed to the social dimension of sustainability – an attitude reflected in her involvement with a multi-generational house close to the Black Forest in Germany, which aims to promote sustainability in the local neighbourhood.

She is an accomplished manager who has worked in large complex organizations (the World Bank Group and the United Nations), where she led integrated teams to solve complex development challenges around small and medium enterprise growth, climate, gender, and capital markets development. She has a solid track record in the impact investing space. She laid the foundation for the first debt and equity fund in the Middle East, now valued at over $600M, supporting growth and employment creation of the micro, small, and medium entrepreneur (MSME) sector, and sits on the Board and Investment Committee of Calvert Impact Capital (CIC).
Over the course of her career, she has worked across 30+ countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia with a range of public and private stakeholders in the financial sector as well as the start-up and investment space. She is a passionate advocate for women’s entrepreneurship and has dedicated much of her career to advancing women’s equality and empowerment. Deena has a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) where she has taught courses and workshops on Microfinance.

Development of a digital financial literacy programme (DSIK):
German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK) offers simulation games promoting business and financial literacy of their participants. Being usually conducted in presence, we contributed to the development of a digital version of two games including the conceptualisation of a course concepts and digital materials. Based on several pilots, we refined the methodology and developed a final version which was then rolled out.
Study on Access barriers to financial services and over-indebtedness in Bangladesh (GIZ):
Funded by BMZ and EU, the projects “Urban Management of Internal Migration due to Climate Change” (UMIMCC) and “Urban Management of Migration and Livelihood (UMML)” aimed to improve the living conditions of climate migrants in selected cities of Bangladesh from 2018 to 2022. In this study, we contributed to the projects by identifying access barriers in financial services, reasons for delays of repayments. We reviewed secondary sources, conducted in-country mission with interviews, consultations and discussions with project staff and key stakeholders and moderated a technical workshop with micro finance institutions to derive recommendations including a debt reduction strategy and other innovative measures.
Consulting the development of the Tunisian National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) – thematic focus microinsurance and refinancing (GIZ)
On behalf of GIZ and as part of the joyn-coop team, we contributed to the development of a NFIS. We developed a concept and moderated the working groups on microinsurance and refinancing together with all major public and private stakeholders. Based on a comprehensive analysis of challenges and opportunities, as well as the outcomes of the stakeholder consultations, we developed strategic recommendations and logical frameworks to be incorporated into the NFIS.
Study on the Integration of Insurance into National Financial Inclusion Strategies (NFIS) (AFI/A2ii)
The Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii) and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) commissioned a global study to assess the integration of insurance into National Financial Inclusion Strategies (NFIS). Covering 36 countries and four in-depth case studies, the study examined current approaches, challenges, and good practices. As part of the joyn-coop team, we designed and implemented an online survey, conducted interviews with representatives of central banks and insurance regulators in four case study countries (e.g. Malaysia and Papua New Guinea), analysed the findings, and prepared the final study report, providing evidence-based recommendations for strengthening the role of insurance in financial inclusion strategies.

Prefeasibility study for a water project in DRC (KfW)
KfW is supporting the rehabilitation of drinking water facilities of a long-standing public water utility in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with “emergency measures” and “investment measures”. To develop the prefeasibility, we conducted site visits and interviews assessing the needs and opportunities and identifying potential partner organisations.
Preparatory studies for a climate-adapted water resource management project in Tanzania / Zanzibar (KfW)
In Zanzibar, KfW is implementing a new water supply and sanitation project. Zanzibar faces the specific challenges of an island in the context of climate change concerning Water Resource Management, insufficient supply and sanitation infrastructure. We supported KfW in the design and preparation of the project which is implemented on the structurally disadvantaged island of Pemba.

Ex-Post Evaluation of a programme on sexual and reproductive health (CordAid)
The Jeune S3 program was a multinational initiative (2016–2020) aimed at empowering youth aged 10 to 24, particularly girls in fragile countries, to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) while ensuring those rights were respected. To conduct the ex-post evaluation, we analysed programme documents, secondary data and information found through desk research, conducted remote coaching of four consultant teams in state-of-the-art remote evaluation methods and technologies, developed and circulated a survey amongst employees of all participating organizations and analysed the results, and managed and supervised local teams and their work on the ground (project site visits, workshops with the target groups, individual interviews, data collection). The project was jointly conducted with joyn-coop.
Preparation of the new project "NTD and One Health in the CEMAC-region" (KfW)
The project aims to expand German health engagement in the CEMAC region (Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic (CAR), the Republic of Congo, and Gabon). It aims at reducing neglected tropical diseases for particularly disadvantaged population groups by considering the interactions between humans, animals, and the environment. We supported KfW in the preparation of the second phase of the project.

Ex-Post Evaluation of the Mesihovina wind farm in Bosnia (KfW)
The project involved the planning and construction of a wind farm in Mesihovina, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Based on a tailored evaluation concept, we revised data, interviewed stakeholders, visited the wind farm and wrote the evaluation report following the DAC evaluation criteria.
Improved impact monitoring and logframe development (KfW)
In an effort to further improve impact monitoring and the quality of logframes of FC projects, we supported KfW with assessing the current quality of logframes and their compliance with formal requirements, raised awareness amongst internal stakeholders of the essential quality criteria that a logframe must meet and provided quality assurance to generic evidence based sectoral logframes.
